For the first time since 1998, the Parti Communiste du Québec (PCQ, the Quebec national section of the Communist Party of Canada) is running 10 candidates for the October 5 vote. The PCQ is fielding 9 candidates in Montreal ridings and one in Sherbrooke, the first time since 1989 that there has been a Communist Party candidate outside Montreal. 

Following the US attack on Venezuela on 3 January, which resulted in the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, the country is going through an extraordinary period.

The Delcy Rodríguez government, which now heads a country over which the United States has established military, political and economic “sovereignty,” is playing a role that facilitates and even consolidates this dominance. Moreover, following the recent earthquake disaster, Venezuela has begun rebuilding strong relations not only with the United States but even with Israel.

So what is really happening in Venezuela, and where is the country heading?

Neirlay Andrade, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), gave an interview to soL, news portal of the Communist Party of Turkey. 

On August 5, the Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan (PIRC) of the Colombian Communist Party was approved. For the first time, under Law 1448 of 2011, a political party was recognized as a subject of collective reparation at the national level, as it was one of the political entities that suffered the highest number of deaths, along with the Patriotic Union, during the political persecution and violence that plagued the country.

The Communist Party of Peru - Patria Roja issued a statement entitled, “The Assumption of Keiko Fujimori Is Only Continuity of the Dictatorial, Mafioso and Neoliberal Pact.”
