The 24th International Meeting Communist and Workers' Parties convened in Havana, Cuba. The meeting will be held from 7-8 August, coinciding with the centenary of Fidel's birth.
The European Communist Action issued a statement on the anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, emphasising the crimes of the USA. The statement has the subtitle "Against the backdrop of escalating imperialist warfare and nuclear threats against the peoples."
The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has organised rallies in several cities across the country, to protest the NATO Summit held in the capital city of Ankara. The demonstration in Ankara was brutally attacked by the security forces and over 130 communists were detained. Communist and workers parties from all around the world issued solidarity statements with TKP and a common statement has been issued to express solidarity.
Organized by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), the International Summit Against NATO brought together communist and workers' parties from NATO member countries and the European Communist Action, as well as international peace and youth organizations.
