PCV announces national congress in November

Communist Party of Venezuela to convene 17th National Congress

Communist Party of Venezuela has shared news about their XVII National Congress on Tribuna Popular, the media organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV).

Here is the article regarding the Congress announcement:

The XX Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), held in Caracas on June 6 and 7, agreed to convene the XVII National Congress in November.

The announcement was made by the PCV's General Secretary, Oscar Figuera, who stated that the national situation “is now much more aggravated, much more critical,” due to the actions of internal factors subordinated to US domination. Figuera maintained that the country faces “direct intervention not only military, but also economic, cultural, political, diplomatic, and security” by the United States, with effects on national sovereignty.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) reiterated its rejection of the actions of Delcy Rodríguez, who “has shamefully bowed down to North American pressure.”

Figuera urged Rodríguez to resign if she does not wish to take risks in defending the interests of the Venezuelan people: “Leave, but do not betray her,” he stated.

Call for unity among leftist and truly democratic forces

The highest leadership body of Venezuelan communists raised the need to regroup the country's progressive movements.

“It is necessary to continue the effort to regroup the true left, the truly democratic movement, the movement of patriotic and revolutionary currents,” Figuera expressed. The leader maintained that this alliance should allow for “building a powerful force, a mighty movement capable of confronting imperialist aggression and also the bourgeois blocs in the service of big capital.”

“Creating the conditions to confront and defeat all the factors within the country that have embraced Marco Rubio’s ‘three-step’ program for the ever-increasing surrender of the country’s wealth,” he added.

The plenary session agreed to support a mobilization agenda in various labour and social sectors, including education, health, oil, and the peasant sector.

“The 20th plenary session declares its support for and promotion of all mobilization processes of workers,” Figuera stated.

Call to the National Armed Forces Another central point of the speech was the call to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), which he urged to speak out against the foreign military presence in the country and the threats to Venezuela's territorial integrity.

“It is necessary that the Armed Forces reflect on what is happening and take a position,” he stated. The leader clarified that the call is framed within the institutional framework: “We are not inviting any action outside the Constitution,” Figuera said, demanding that the military fulfil “its function of defending sovereignty, independence, self-determination, and territorial integrity.”
