The Communist Youth Front's (FGC) 'Guerrilla' youth camp was held in southern Italy from August 1 to 7.
Communist Youth Front holds summer camp
Hundreds of young communists from across Italy convened for a week, with political activities commencing almost every day. The first one took place in the morning of August 2 and featured speeches by the FGC's National Secretary and the Communist Party's General Secretary. In these speeches, the party's current situation, long-term goals, and the role the youth organization should play in supporting these goals were laid out.
The two attorneys from the FC and the FGC contributed to the political activity on the third day. One of the attorneys was a founding member of the FGC and its first National Secretary. As a result of rising political repression in Italy, their speeches talked about how the FGC and FC are dealing with these changes in different ways. The continuity of policy between the social democratic, conservative, and 'technocratic' governments, which differ primarily in rhetoric, was emphasized.
Alongside political activities, there were sporting and cultural events. Tournaments for volleyball and football were set up, an Italian movie about the partisan struggle in Venice was shown.
FGC conducted a seminar with the international organizations represented at the youth camp, including the Communist Youth Collectives (CJC) from Spain, the Communist Youth Movement of the Netherlands, and the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE).
