A political rejection of Donald Trump’s agenda

Communists of USA Respond to US Midterm Election Results

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) have responded to the US midterm election results.

The November 3, 2026, US midterm elections resulted in a sweeping defeat for the Republican Party, with Democrats winning control of both chambers of Congress and making significant gains in traditionally Republican strongholds.

First statements from CPUSA and PSL described the results as a political rejection of Donald Trump’s agenda while emphasizing the need to sustain the struggle for peace, social rights and working-class demands.

CPUSA: “MAGA Got Pummeled in the Midterms!”

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) declared that MAGA got pummeled in the #midterms!” following the election results, while emphasizing that “the pressure must be kept up!”

The party called for an end to the “criminal war on Iran,” NO funding for Israel and the “Donroe Doctrine,” and NO to the war economy. CPUSA also demanded the impeachment of Pete Hegseth.

Among its other demands, CPUSA called to “restore and expand voting rights for all” and overturn Citizens United, codify abortion rights at the federal level, abolish ICE and remove Stephen Miller from power.

On economic and workers' rights issues, the party called to “fund people's needs,” pass the PRO Act, raise the minimum wage and create good union jobs for all.

PSL: “We Need Our Own Party”

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) described Trump's billionaire agenda as deeply unpopular across the country, pointing to Republican losses even in the deepest of red states.

“This confirms what we already knew — that war isn’t a side issue for the American people,” the party stated. It added, however, that “both the GOP and Democrats prioritize funding the Pentagon and Israel over people’s needs.”

“We need our own party,” PSL declared, calling for the continued building of “the movement against the billionaires of both major parties.”

The party also celebrated a socialist electoral victory in South San Francisco, announcing that a socialist had won a seat on the South San Francisco Unified School District's Area E school board.

“Working families in Area E of SSFUSD gave us 6 of every 10 votes counted so far!” PSL stated, highlighting the campaign's demands for smaller classes, real help for kids learning English and safe schools for every family. The campaign also called for “No ICE in our classrooms without a judge’s warrant.”

“We ran an openly socialist campaign,” PSL declared. “When working people got the chance to vote for socialist solutions in our schools, outside the two-party system, we took it.”

Concluding its assessment of the national results, PSL stated that “tens of millions went to the polls to politically punish Trump, and they succeeded.” It added that voters were also dreaming of “peace, justice and good jobs” — a dream that, according to the party, “the capitalist system will not deliver.”

“Our kids can’t wait. Socialists get the job done,” the PSL concluded.
