Portuguese Communist Party supports winegrowers' struggle for a fair price scheme

Portuguese CP supports winegrowers

On 7 August, winegrowers from the Douro Demarcated Region took to the streets in a rally organized by the CNA and AVADOURIENSE, in defense of a fair price for their produce.

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) took part in the rally and saluted the struggle of winegrowers for decent working and producing conditions.

The Party stated that for more than 25 years, the price paid for grapes for wine has stagnated, while production costs have increased dramatically; and that it is urgent to guarantee the sale of all production at fair prices that value the work of thousands of small and medium-sized farmers and ensure the future of wine production in the Douro region.
