In recent days operations were conducted by the government, against two major religious orders in Turkey, known as SĂĽleymanists and Furkanists. The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement, demanding the disbandment of all of these orders. TKP has been a staunch supporter of this idea for decades. Party cadres will be campaigning for this in the coming days.
TKP demands disbandment of religious orders and communities
Süleymanists, Furkanists and Confused Minds…
ALL RELIGIOUS ORDERS AND COMMUNITIES MUST BE DISBANDED IMMEDIATELY, AND THEIR HOLDINGS MUST BE NATIONALISED!
One of the AKP government's biggest pillars of support from the very beginning has always been religious orders and communities.
These dark organisations, which have also grown into enormous holding companies, entrenched themselves in many critical state institutions over the years with the government's support, and continued to grow and grow. The most prominent example, as is well known, was the GĂĽlenists. What happened when they sought to take complete control of the government is still fresh in our memories.
Yet even after the “bloody finale” that was etched into the public memory, the AKP government took no steps whatsoever against religious orders and communities.
In recent days, following operations first against the Süleymanists and then against the Furkanists, this debate has once again been opened up. Moreover, it has been accompanied by the creation of a strange confusion and trap along the lines of “good religious order, bad religious order” and “pro-government religious order, opposition religious order”…
It is no coincidence that AKP ministers, who have created this confusion, have repeatedly had to insist: “We are not conducting operations against religious orders and communities; these are criminal organisations.”
Let us correct this inadequate definition: All religious orders and communities are criminal organisations!
They want to draw the public into the “good religious order, bad religious order” trap in order to conceal this obvious reality.
But what is actually happening is simple: the government allows the religious orders and communities under its control to flourish, while trying to prune the others and bring them into line with itself. That's all.
We are talking about religious orders that have accumulated enormous holding companies and about a huge economic pie. It is impossible for there not to be a struggle over this pie, and what we are witnessing today is precisely a reflection of that struggle.
We must never, ever forget that all of them, including the religious orders mentioned above, are hostile to the people, are instruments of this system, and have collaborated with the government for years.
There is no such thing as a “good” or “bad” religious order or community!
Once you fall into this trap, it becomes possible even to portray the anti-people Gülenists, or the Süleymanists, who are responsible for the killing and abuse of children, as “opposition.”
Religious orders and communities such as Menzil, İskenderpaşa and İsmailağa, which have today established themselves throughout all of the country's institutions, will not suddenly become “good” tomorrow when they fall out with the government over their share of the pie.
The TKP's position is clear.
This system, and its government, under which religious orders and communities hold sway must be brought to an end. All religious orders and communities must be disbanded immediately; the enormous wealth accumulated by these dark organisations through exploiting the people must be confiscated, and their holding companies must be nationalised!
