Communist Party of Ecuador criticises Milei’s and Zionists' diplomatic visits

On August 6, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar became the first Israeli foreign minister to visit Ecuador in 44 years. The same day, Argentine President Javier Milei carried out the first official state visit to Ecuador by an Argentine leader since 2007.

In the September issue of its central organ El Pueblo, the Communist Party of Ecuador (PCE) harshly criticises Ecuador's diplomatic choices. Seeing Milei as an enemy of the working class, the National Reorganisation Commission of the PCE accuses the Argentinian leader of covering up plunder and surrender to the US “empire” with a discourse of change and leaving millions of families in poverty. The article also refers to the competition between the two right-wing rulers, Milei and Noboa, in showing “who is Trump's favourite.”

Meanwhile, the PCE reacts to Saar’s visit as follows:

1. We reject the official presence of representatives of the Zionist entity of occupation in our territory, as long as there is no clear and verifiable commitment to the cessation of the genocide in Gaza and respect for international law.
2. We demand that the national government be transparent about the agreements, conventions, or commitments signed during the visit.
3. We express our solidarity with all peoples who resist occupations, blockades, policies of territorial dispossession, and genocides, especially with the sovereign people of Palestine, the main victim of Zionist barbarism.
4. We call on the social, union, student, and popular organisations of Ecuador to remain vigilant and to express, through mobilisation and resistance, their disagreement with this traitorous diplomatic agenda of the lumpen president Noboa.
5. We reiterate our commitment to peace, sovereignty, and self-determination of peoples, above any foreign geopolitical interest that seeks to use our territory in inter-imperialist disputes of which we are not a part.
