More than 35,000 people, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], blocked the Mumbai–Delhi National Highway at Charoti in Dahanu, Palghar, Maharashtra, on September 10, protesting the forced installation of smart meters, exorbitant electricity bills and the high-handed behaviour of electricity board officials.

With the initiative of the Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan  a joint statement regarding the repression of those who spoke out against the rehabilitation of the Basmachi in Uzbekistan and the use of Soviet symbols in Azerbaijan has been issued. 

A joint state-level mass convention was organised by the INDIA Bloc, Odisha, at Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, demanding protection of the State’s rights over its mineral resources, the land, forest and livelihood rights of Adivasis, and the larger public interest. 

On Monday night at 22.30, BJP goons attacked the CPI(M) district office Subodh Sen Bhavan with sticks, weapons and kerosene. Another Party meeting in Yogeshganj was also disrupted by a similar mob. 

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has strongly warned against the government’s intention to join the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed by Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, describing the move as highly dangerous and a serious departure from Bangladesh’s tradition of an independent foreign policy.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) organised protests in different parts of the country on issues of housing and commodity prices.
