The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) is intensifying its diplomatic and public campaign ahead of the United Nations General Assembly vote on its resolution calling for an end to the US economic, commercial and financial blockade. The vote is scheduled for 27–28 October 2026, marking the 34th time the issue has been brought before the General Assembly.

Cuban President and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visited the Colón Nuevo Vedado Zone Defense Council in Havana on Friday, 9 October, as part of activities marking National Defense Day.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, accompanied by Communist Party officials from Havana and government officials, visited several community projects and spoke with residents. A central focus was the local development project “La Timba,” which produces food and supplies bread and other products to a nearby childcare centre and schools serving a community of around 5,000 people.

Cuban President and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visited the Alamar Este Defence Zone in Havana during the National Defence Day activities, where he reviewed preparations for confronting an external enemy threat and discussed the community’s economic and social affairs.

Cuban President and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, inspected the implementation of a recently adopted comprehensive programme to address Havana’s deteriorating water supply. The visit formed part of a weekly monitoring process established by the Cuban leadership to oversee the implementation of the strategy.
