The Communist Party of Sweden (SKP) has issued a statement following the conclusion of the election campaign. Elections were held last weekend.
Communist Party of Sweden on election campaign and further struggle
The party thanked its members and supporters for their efforts, noting that its ballot papers were available in more locations than in previous elections. It said this experience had enabled it to conduct a stronger campaign.
The party cautioned that the final result was not yet available, as electoral districts would publish their results progressively during the week.
The statement emphasised that, regardless of the election outcome or the composition of the next government, capitalism would remain unchanged. According to the party, governments of both the political “left” and “right” ultimately preserve the capitalist system and the exploitation of workers.
The Communist Party of Sweden therefore called for the energy generated during the campaign to be channelled into practical political activity and the class struggle. It particularly urged those who had voted for the party or encountered it during the campaign to become organised members.
The statement concluded with a call to strengthen the party and make it a more effective instrument in the struggle against capitalism.
