Communist Party of Sweden on election results: best since 1991

The votes in the parliamentary election have now been counted, and from Kiruna in the north to Trelleborg in the south, there are communist votes to be counted – nearly three thousand people have, in various elections, cast their votes for the Communist Party of Sweden. The result means that our party has achieved its best result since 1991 – since the counter-revolution in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the communists have not achieved as good an electoral result as they have this year.

For this, we would like to extend our great thanks to all the members and sympathisers who have worked and struggled to distribute our election information and ballot papers. The work that has been carried out is incredibly significant in the struggle for socialism in Sweden.

We would also like to extend our great thanks to those who cast their vote for our party. You have made the important decision to ensure that your vote counts. You have chosen to stand tall and proudly proclaim that another world is not only possible, but necessary. You have confirmed that socialism remains the only possible way forward for humanity.

Despite the obstacles that capitalist Sweden has placed in our way, we have been able to strengthen our result. Unlike the major establishment parties, we pay for our own ballot papers and ensure ourselves that they are available at an increasing number of polling stations throughout the country. The major parties count their state funding in tens and hundreds of millions of kronor, while we rely solely on our own forces. Every krona that has come our party's way, including through our campaign fund, has made a difference.

Our work, however, is not over. While the establishment parties are now putting on an elaborate charade about how Swedish capitalism can best be administered, we will continue our work for socialism and revolution, because we know that whoever wins governmental power, the people lose – and therefore we will continue to fight.

While the establishment parties in one way or another represent capital, we have no interests other than those of the working people.

We know that the number of votes we receive is still smaller than that of the major establishment parties, but we also know that the votes we receive are so much stronger than those of the other parties, because all our votes carry the future with them.

We see that our reach is growing. We see that more people are listening to us, and we see that more people are voting for us. Strengthened by our result, we continue the struggle for the future, for an existence without insecurity and poverty, without war and misery.

In this struggle, we need all the forces that exist. Therefore, we would also like to issue an appeal to you: strengthen communist organisation and get in touch with the Communist Party of Sweden – together, our voices will become even stronger!
