Egyptian Communist Party against Egypt's involvement in war

We have repeatedly warned that the war being waged by American imperialism and its protégé, Israel, against Iran is liable to expand, and that no country in the region will escape its flames. For them, the destruction of Iran is not the final objective; rather, it is one step toward the destruction of the countries of the Middle East as a whole, paving the way for the implementation of the American-Zionist project known as the "New Middle East." Through this project, Israel seeks to divide and weaken the countries of the region, establish its domination over them, and ultimately realize the dream of "Greater Israel," as openly proclaimed by the leaders of the enemy.

The Zionists and the Americans have long dreamed of creating a Sunni alliance against the Shiites—that is, against Iran and the resistance forces aligned with it—so that the conflict in the region would be transformed from an Arab-Zionist conflict into an Arab-Iranian conflict. In this scenario, the Arabs and the Sunni states would fight on Israel's behalf. The winner would be obvious, while the certain losers would be the peoples and states of the region.

Unfortunately, the Zionist-imperialist axis has succeeded in achieving this to some extent by encouraging certain Gulf states to participate in attacks against Iran and its allies in Iraq and Yemen.

Egypt's consistent position has been to avoid being drawn into wars that do not serve its national security interests. Hence the need, from the standpoint of those behind this conspiracy, to threaten and blackmail Egypt by launching a drone attack on Damietta Port, particularly targeting the gas vessels docked there, with all the potential for catastrophic losses to the Egyptian people. Moreover, it is not in Iran's interest to widen the circle of its enemies; on the contrary, the opposite is true. Statements by Iran's Foreign Minister and one of its most prominent military commanders have confirmed this reality.

Accordingly, our Egyptian Communist Party affirms that this despicable attack was carried out exclusively by the American-Zionist enemy or one of its proxies. This enemy is the only party with an interest in harming Egypt and the only one with an interest in dragging it into the war. Furthermore, some media sources have acknowledged that the drone was launched from Cyprus. Consequently, this attack constitutes an application of what is known as a "false flag" operation—a method long employed by the Israelis, dating back to the Lavon Affair in Egypt in 1954.

Therefore, we warn against attempts to drag Egypt into the midst of this war, which serves only imperialist and Zionist interests. We also stress the importance of making Egypt's response to these schemes more effective and proactive. To achieve this, Egypt must free itself from all the constraints and ties that make it vulnerable to external pressure, whether these relate to its enormous foreign debt, its relationship with international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, or its strategic ties with the West and the United States. Only then can Egypt's political decision-making become freer and bolder on issues of vital importance that directly affect Egyptian national security.
