Party of Labour of Austria calls for rallies on 1 September

Party of Labour of Austria (PdA) called for action on 1 September, Anti-War Day 2026 – For peace and neutrality!

We're not paying for their upgrade!

On September 1, 1939, the Second World War began with the invasion of Poland by fascist Germany. Today, the danger of new major wars is once again drawing near. The war in Ukraine continues, the Middle East is ablaze again, and the confrontation between the USA and China in the Pacific is escalating. Everywhere, military alliances are being strengthened, arms production and military spending are being increased, and populations are being prepared for new sacrifices.

War is inherent to capitalism. Large corporations and imperialist states compete for markets, raw materials, trade routes, labor, and political spheres of influence. As long as production and politics serve the profit and power of capital, the ruling class will repeatedly resolve its distribution and power issues through violence. The burden of this cost is not borne by shareholders, generals, and government officials, but by the working class and the people: through inflation and the dismantling of social welfare, through displacement, destruction, and death.

Austria is not standing alone. The armed forces are being modernized with billions of euros. New weapons systems are being procured, and Austria is participating in the general arms buildup of the European Union. At the same time, so-called "spiritual national defense" is increasingly penetrating schools and educational institutions. While money is supposedly lacking for health, education, and social security, billions are available for tanks, missiles, and war preparations. The population is to be accustomed to rearmament and sworn to restraint, the creation of enemy images, and a readiness for war.

We workers have nothing to gain from the wars waged by the ruling class . We own neither the corporations nor the raw materials, banks, or trade routes that are being fought over. We are simply expected to foot the bill, work longer hours, forgo social rights, and, if necessary, give our lives.

Not a cent and not a single person for their wars! We fight against rearmament, militarization, and imperialist war policies. We fight for a society where people's needs, not profits, are the deciding factor. For peace and socialism!

Peace to the nations – fight against capital!
