Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) and Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) share statements against US advances

Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) and Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) released statements after Washington launched a new offensive against Brazil.

The US classified organized crime factions as terrorist organizations, creating a dangerous precedent to justify future interference in Brazilian internal affairs. Then, they announced new trade barriers and tariffs against national products, using ridiculous and arbitrary arguments to attack sectors of the Brazilian economy and pressure the Lula government.

The statement National Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) was titled “To combat the imperialist interventions of Trump and the Bolsonaro family, to defend the sovereignty of Brazil.”

PCdoB demands firm and widespread condemnation from the Brazilian people and the institutions of the Republic. They are warning that the United States, aims to violate Brazilian national sovereignty and promote fraudulent practices to favour the candidacy of the far-right and neo-fascism in the upcoming October elections in Brazil.

The statement points out that this is because the Bolsonaros are aiming to win the elections with interference from the United States by using the serious issue of combating organized crime.

The statement unmasks the interests of the United States in Latin America and the Caribbean, which is embodied in their new national security strategy.  In concrete terms, among other consequences, it has already resulted in the creation of the so-called “Shield of the Americas,” an alliance serving the United States, composed of eleven countries.

“The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) warns the Brazilian people that Brazil is under threat. A threat that becomes more dangerous now that US imperialism has the support of a fifth column, the servile Bolsonaro family.

Given this scenario, the PCdoB calls upon popular, democratic, and truly patriotic forces to denounce and vigorously combat these attempts to subjugate Brazil to the interests of the United States and to tamper with the Brazilian electoral process in 2026.”

PCB (Brazilian Communist Party) reminds that the imperialism has no friends, partners, or permanent allies. It only has interests.

“And its interests mean the subjugation of peoples, the control of markets, the appropriation of strategic resources, and the imposition of governments docile to its designs.”

PCB emphasizes that the real problem is not trade, public security, or any other justification presented. The issue is that Brazil does not fully meet Washington's interests. Such measures, therefore, aim only to create pretexts to blackmail the country and plunder the riches.

The statement points to the political support for Flávio Bolsonaro from Trump, as the Brazilian far-right remains his main bet for expanding US influence over Brazil.

“This reveals, once again, the shameful role of the far-right as a true fifth column of imperialism within our country. While posing as a patriot in front of the cameras, it conspires behind the scenes against national interests. While wrapping itself in the Brazilian flag, it kneels before the flag of the United States. While discoursing on sovereignty, it works to transform Brazil into a colony subordinate to the interests of Washington.”

PCB calls for the construction of an Anti-imperialist and Anti-capitalist Front capable of uniting all true patriots willing to defend national sovereignty and the interests of the working people. This Front is to be formed as Anti-imperialist Popular Committees in workplaces, schools, neighbourhoods, and communities, to incorporate all the people in this battle in defence of national and popular sovereignty.

“This struggle cannot be limited to the abstract defence of sovereignty. The defence of the nation is inseparably linked to the defence of the workers' agenda. There will be no national independence as long as the financial system controls the economy. There will be no sovereignty as long as our strategic resources are subject to foreign capital. There will be no true democracy as long as the majority of the people remain excluded from the fundamental decisions of the country.

Therefore, the fight against imperialism must go hand in hand with the fight for workers' rights, for the repeal of counter-reforms, wage increases, reduction of the working day without a reduction in pay, control of our natural resources, and the construction of a popular project for Brazil. The time demands organization, awareness, and mobilization.”
