Fronte Comunista demands housing crisis to be solved

Communist Front - Italy addresses housing crisis

On the 19th of June, the Housing Struggle Committee of the province of Alessandria, including the Communist Front as a participant, took to the streets to demand the allocation of vacant public housing and the immediate use of properties confiscated from the mafia, currently abandoned, to address the housing crisis.

The demands were as follows:

"We demand home-to-home transfers for all families facing eviction. The social situation is dire, with 500 homeless people registered in the city of Alessandria alone and hundreds upon hundreds of families facing eviction throughout the province. All this while the Meloni government's latest housing plan does nothing but hand out billions to real estate speculators instead of implementing policies that guarantee a roof over the heads of hundreds of thousands of families facing housing emergency.

We denounce the war economy, pointing out that, with the numbers in hand, just one less F-35 would be enough to secure the funds needed to resolve the housing crisis once and for all across the province. We also demand significant investment in social housing, rents proportionate to income, and the expropriation of thousands of apartments purposely kept vacant by large developers for speculative purposes.

The Communist Front is present on the committee and took to the streets alongside the proletariat of Alessandria with the slogan: "No more houses without people, No more homeless people!"
