The Communist Party of Argentina issued a statement condemning the entry of US troops into Argentine territory, defining their presence as an affront to sovereignty and independence, as well as being absolutely illegal.
Communist Party of Argentina condemns US troops in Argentina
Legality is discussed as the Party pointed out that the Constitution clearly states that to allow “the introduction of foreign troops into the territory of the nation,” the approval of both chambers must be obtained. Javier Milei authorized the entry of US troops through an emergency decree to carry out the military exercises, disregarding the Constitution, with the purpose of “facilitating the participation of the Argentine Armed Forces in future multinational operations.”
“This situation unfolds alongside Donald Trump's remarks against NATO allies for their lack of support in the war in Iran and the leak of a cable suggesting the US government might reconsider its support for Britain's illegal occupation of the Falkland Islands. All of this is further complicated by the Argentine government's complete subservience to the interests of Washington and Tel Aviv, something recently demonstrated by the intelligence agreements signed between Milei and Benjamin Netanyahu and the arrival in Argentina of Peter Thiel, a leading figure in global neo-fascism and president of Palantir Technologies, the geolocation and surveillance corporation that is a major contractor for Israel and the Pentagon.”
The party warns the people against believing Trump would return the Falklands to them: “We must keep the lessons of history firmly in mind: the US objective is none other than to continue attacking our sovereignty to plunder all our wealth and natural resources and consolidate its dominance in strategic locations for the global geopolitical struggle. This is evident, for example, in its intentions to seize the city of Ushuaia, key to the interoceanic passage and access to Argentine Antarctica, where it seeks to gain administrative control of its port and establish a nuclear submarine base.”
The statement recounts the latest actions of the Trump administration, such as the National Security Strategy document, the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro, the intervention in Mexico without the authorization of the Mexican government under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, and the growing threats of invasion against Cuba, which heroically resists the energy blockade and an embargo of more than six decades.
“Anticipating the commemoration of another anniversary of the May Revolution, it is necessary to appeal to the example of that patriotic feat to repudiate and expel, through popular mobilization, the invasive presence of Argentina and all of Latin America.
We call upon all social and political organizations to join forces for peace and the consistent defense of our sovereignty. Let us strengthen anti-imperialist unity to rebuild and liberate our homeland. “
