Communist Party of Cuba condemns new US sanctions

The President of the United States has made new threatening statements against Cuba, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury has added new names of Cuban leaders, organizations, and companies to an illegitimate sanctions list.

President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that these measures are aimed at strengthening the blockade and intensifying the climate of conflict between Cuba and the United States. He said ,"This political blindness adds to the coercive measures imposed against our country in recent weeks, which have been designed to harm the Cuban people. The aggressiveness and malice of the U.S. government will collide with our determination to face even the worst scenarios and resist the imperialist offensive."

Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau of PCC stated the following:

"The infamous act of including our President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, members of his family, as well as Cuban institutions, civil society organizations, and companies in an illegitimate, spurious, and unilateral list issued by the United States Government constitutes a vile act of aggression that deserves the strongest condemnation.

This measure is the latest evidence of Washington’s interventionist plan to portray Cuba as a threat to U.S. national security, thereby justifying its ongoing hostility against our nation.

From the highest sense of patriotism, we denounce this meddlesome maneuver that undermines the dignity and self-determination of the Cuban people. Every action by the U.S. Government aimed at constructing a scenario of conflict between the two countries is destined for total failure.

History has shown it: Cuba’s sovereignty is not negotiable, nor will it bow to underhanded pressure. Faced with every threat against our independence, the response will be greater unity, greater awareness, and the unwavering determination of our people to defend their project of a free and sovereign nation."
