Communist Party of India (Marxist) holds rally after State Committee Meeting

CPI(M) Politburo members Ramchandra Dom, Srideep Bhattacharya, Central Committee member Sumit De, and Joint State Secretary Board member Palash Das were present on the stage of the rally as well as Senior CPIM leader Suryakanta Mishra was also present at the rally. 

The ground where the rally was supposed to be held was not allowed to be used by various levels of the administration. The meeting had to be held quickly at an alternative ground. 

Communist Party of India (Marxist) reports from the streets that people's protests have started all over the country against crony capitalism and totalitarian misery. CPI(M) states that this is proving that RSS-BJP is not invincible is becoming increasingly clear and that it is possible to defeat this force through all-out resistance by building a massive unity. 

The party's general secretary MA Baby makes a call “to achieve this, we have to reorganize our organization and reach out to more and more oppressed and distressed people” while inaugurating the extended session of the CPI (M) West Bengal State Committee in Kalyani. 

MA Baby hoisted the red flag at the beginning of this extended session of the party's state committee. Inaugurating the session, he mentioned the positive changes in the national situation and said, the unprecedented response to the lawlessness and jail-hopping movement across the country on August 10 reflected the widespread anger of the working class including workers, farmers, agricultural labourers. The government was forced to withdraw the anti-farmer law. 

"The movement of the young generation at Jantar Mantar after the provocative remarks of the Chief Justice also included Leftist students and youth. We tried to unite all the secular democratic forces. All sections of the society came forward with the support of the new generation, Modi was forced to retreat. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was forced to resign. But the RSS BJP is intensifying the politics of communal hatred and division." 

Highlighting the widespread misery in rural life due to the Modi government's policies, MA Baby said that while in July 2025, more than 15 crore labour days were created in REGA, in July this year it has come down to 7 crore by half. This has had an inevitable impact on rural life. Baby said that it is our responsibility to stand by these distressed people, to connect with those who have been left out of REGA. He said that party workers should create new contacts with the poor people of urban areas, including agricultural workers, and labourers, to identify their problems and crises and draw them into the field of movement. 

In this context, he highlighted the significant role of CPI(M) in launching REGA. He said that the people's verdict went against them as a result of the terrorism and widespread corruption brought by the Trinamool in West Bengal, but as a result, the BJP's double engine government has been formed. After coming to power, the BJP is doing the politics of communal division all over the country, and has started doing that. People are being excluded from various government schemes due to communal and political reasons. People excluded from the SIR list are not being included in various schemes. Minority people are being deprived. He said, in this context, our responsibility has increased even more. We have to stand by all these deprived people. The organization has to make preparations accordingly to reach out to the people of this section. 

MA Baby strongly criticized the role of the Subhendu Adhikari government in this state and said that BJP has been accused of attacking the house of Sheikh Abdul Hafeez, a student who participated in the Cockroach Janata Party movement at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, and beating his father to death. The government has not taken appropriate action against this serious incident. Baby said, we have to stand by all the people affected by the attack on democratic rights by the BJP government. People will understand from their life experience that the red flag is on their side till the end. The CPI(M) will take the initiative to organize a fight by uniting not only the Leftists but also people from all sections who are against the BJP and RSS.

CPI(M) Central Committee member Meenakshi Mukherjee said that you cannot be an opposition just by being in the assembly, those who speak for hard work on the streets are the real opposition during the Kalyani rally. 

Meenakshi said: “We decided there that we will not bow down to anyone. Let us not bow down to any threat. The BJP government has been running in the state for three and a half months, but it has seen the five legs of a snake. We have to be confident in ourselves, our belief is right. And with that belief, we have to move forward in our struggle. Will this BJP teach us patriotism? The freedom movement has taught us that one country cannot be put at the head of another country. We will not bow down to any colony. We once drove out the British, we will drive out their agents too.” 

CPI(M) State Secretary Mohammad Salim said: “History erases those who kick. And those who get kicked stand up with clenched hands. The leftists will continue the fight for education, work, crop prices, wages.” during the Kalyani rally. 

Salim said, “the fascists want to scare us. We are not afraid. The fight against injustice, against misrule, for democracy will intensify. Today is a direct fight between the Left and the South. The curtain of the name Trinamool has been lifted. As a result, the fight for farmers' crop prices, school demands, work for the unemployed, money for work-housing for the poor, voting rights, and respect for women will intensify.”
