The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) expresses deep sorrow over the recent devastating floods and landslides in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers and other rivers, which have caused massive loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and other districts. We offer heartfelt tributes to all those who lost their lives in this natural disaster and extend profound condolences to the bereaved families. We also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. We humbly request all concerned authorities to search for and rescue the missing persons.
At this time of crisis, to expedite the immediate rescue, relief, and long-term rehabilitation of affected citizens, the CPN (UML) has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore 20 lakh (12 million rupees).
For the purpose of protecting the lives of citizens affected by the natural disaster, collecting and distributing immediate relief materials, mobilizing financial and humanitarian aid, and facilitating rehabilitation, the party has formed a "Flood-Victim Rescue, Relief, and Rehabilitation Support Committee" under the coordination of Party Secretary Mahesh Basnet.
Action Plan and Next Steps:
- Immediate needs in the affected areas will be assessed, and relief materials will be collected, transported, and distributed in coordination with government agencies, local governments, and party committees at all levels for the rehabilitation of affected families.
- Federal parliamentarians, provincial assembly members, and local representatives will be directly engaged in relief and rescue operations in their respective districts as per the needs.
- Prioritizing the protection of life and relief for disaster-affected citizens, the CPN (UML) central rescue and relief teams will depart tomorrow at 11:00 AM for Nuwakot and at 1:00 PM for Rasuwa.
In this difficult time of disaster, the CPN (UML) makes a heartfelt appeal to all party cadres, people's organizations, public representatives, civil society, and supporting hands to unite and engage in the rescue and relief campaign.
