Communist Party of Pakistan condemns hike in energy prices, demands creation of social state

In response to the worsening economic conditions in the country, the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) put out a strong statement harshly criticising the anti-popular policies and corruption of the Pakistani government.

Imdad Qazi, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Pakistan, strongly protested the government's misrepresentation and misleading propaganda, saying that over the past four years the rulers have increased their salaries and other financial perks, have increased their pensions and other privileges eightfold, have purchased brand-new luxury jets and hundreds of luxury vehicles, all the while squeezing the public by massively increasing the prices of electricity, gas, and petroleum products, raising tax rates and levies, and leaving the people reeling. Qazi further lambasted the government for covering up its corruption and incompetence, and for bowing down to IMF dictats, while using those diktats as an excuse to loot and rob the overwhelming majority of the population to fund their lavish expenses. He further accused the government of massively hiking energy prices by using the chaotic regional situation caused by the U.S. aggression against Iran as an excuse, commenting that not even in the countries directly participating in the war were energy prices so massively hiked as in Pakistan. He further stated that the government was preparing to push forth both an anti-popular budget as well as anti-democratic constitutional amendments using the regional situation and the IMF as an excuse. He finally appealed to all democratic and popular currents inside Pakistan to unite and rally to thwart the anti-popular policies of the government, and to begin the process of agitating for a social state.
