Communist Party of Venezuela warns of imperialist intervention

Speaking at a press conference, Politburo member Pedro Eusse stated that, under the guise of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction, Washington is advancing an interventionist agenda, accompanied by an increased U.S. military presence in the Caribbean and the involvement of Israeli representatives in reconstruction plans for La Guaira. The PCV called on social and political organizations to unite in defense of Venezuela's sovereignty and to resist what it described as a broader strategy of imperialist domination in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The party also expressed solidarity with the earthquake victims, emphasising that the disaster exposed the country's deep social inequalities, with working-class families suffering the greatest losses. Eusse called for urgent technical inspections of damaged residential buildings in Caracas, as well as an emergency assistance program for affected families. The PCV further criticized the government's lack of disaster preparedness, pointing to recent flooding in several regions as evidence of the absence of long-term infrastructure and prevention policies.

Addressing the economic situation, Eusse warned that June's inflation rate of 13.8 percent and the continued devaluation of the national currency are further eroding workers' living standards. He blamed the government's economic policies for benefiting private capital while worsening the conditions of the working population. The PCV also demanded special labor protections for workers affected by the earthquakes, noting that damage to labor inspectorate offices has left many employees without access to legal protection against dismissals or labor disputes. The party concluded by renewing its call for popular mobilization, changes in economic policy, and a political solution that, in its view, would safeguard Venezuela's sovereignty and defend the interests of working people.
