The Communist Youth Collectives, the youth organisation of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE), held their 12th summer camp.
Communist Youth Collectives gathers 12th summer camp commemorating Spanish Civil War
Taking place from 13-16 August, the summer camp coincided with the 90th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War. The main seminar focused on the lessons learned from this conflict.
Seminars titled 'Under the banner of the Communist Party, organising the youth' and 'Organisation and struggle of the working-class women' were also well received.
International delegations from the Communist Youth Movement from the Netherlands (CJB), the United Democratic Youth Organisation (EDON) from Cyprus, the Socialist German Workers’ Youth (SDAJ), the Communist Youth of Greece (KKE), the Communist Youth Front (FGC) from Italy, Federation of Young Communist (FJC) from Mexico, the Portuguese Communist Youth (JCP), Revolutionary Communist Youth Union (Bolshevik) (RKSM(b)) from Russia, the Communist Youth of Turkey (TKG), the Communist Youth Union from Brasil (UJC Brasil - PCBR) and the Communist Youth Union (UJC France) set up stands in the International Area and Book Fair.
The camp also featured cultural and sporting activities, including a performance of Strike at the Harbour, a play written by MarÃa Teresa León in 1933, by the CJC militants' theatre group. After the play, there was a concert featuring a repertoire of revolutionary songs.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE), Astor GarcÃa, attended the camp's closing ceremony and greeted the young campers.
