‘An exciting development that will strengthen our Party’

CP of Australia in New South Wales starts youth branch

The youth branch to coordinate the work of party members on issues specific to youth.

On July 11, the New South Wales Youth Branch of the Communist Party of Australia held its inaugural meeting.

According to Arthur Martin's article on The Workers’ Weekly Guardian, the branch will take on party work related to youth-dominated industries such as retail and hospitality, as well as political activities on university campuses.

Stating that the social contract is broken in the eyes of the Australian youth, the article suggests that the antidote to problems such as the cost of living, unemployment, inflation, and imperialist wars is systemic change through socialism.

The author expresses his aspirations as follows: “As more youth have joined the Party in NSW, an organic demand for a fraction has grown. Many of these young members are keen to carry out political activity that is specifically suited for young people. They will carry this work out with oversight from the NSW State Committee, an exciting development that will strengthen our Party and help us to continue growing and developing.”
