CPI(M) protests housing problems and planned data centres in Andra Pradesh
CPI(M) staged a protest on 21 September outside the Mandal Revenue Office in Chinagadili, Visakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh, demanding house sites, completed houses and land titles for homeless people. The party also demanded correction of land-measurement errors and regularisation of eligible holdings. CPI(M) representatives submitted a memorandum and applications to the deputy tahsildar.
The same state unit continued its campaign against the proposed large-scale Google-Adani and other data-centre projects in Visakhapatnam. State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao demanded that restrictions on the “Stop Vizag Data Centres” social-media channel be lifted. The CPI(M) argues that the projects raise questions about land acquisition, water availability, electricity consumption and environmental impact and says criticism of the projects should not be restricted.
