Fascists affiliated with the racist Otzma Yehudit party, including Mordechai David and Victor Shriki, stormed the Left Bank Club in Tel Aviv on Thursday night, which also serves as a branch of Hadash and the Communist Party of Israel (Maki), during the premiere of a film by the "Sheravot" network - "We Don't Refuse to Answer," and physically clashed with the activists.
Fascists try to break into Joint List's election headquarters in Tel Aviv
According to Zo Khadarek, the "Servavot" network claimed that about ten right-wing activists attacked activists and youth who participated in the event, and after being removed from the building, returned to it and shouted incitement against those present. The Joint List's election headquarters also operates in the building, and according to testimonies, the right-wing activists tried to reach the floor where the headquarters operates. The police arrived after the activists were removed from the scene.
The Joint List strongly condemned the violent outbreak at the campaign headquarters in Tel Aviv. "This is a new and dangerous record in political violence in the country, and this is a dangerous escalation and a real threat to the purity of the elections. The writing is on the wall, and we must not wait for the next incident to understand the seriousness of the situation and act decisively," it said. As stated, the police arrived at the scene after the incident ended, and MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash) addressed the Tel Aviv District Commander, Chief Superintendent Haim Sargaroff, demanding "the opening of an investigation and the arrest of the attackers." Hadash activists filed a complaint at the police station.
Joint List Chairman Prof. Yosef Jabarin said following the attack: "The right-wing thugs think they can achieve through violence and intimidation what they won't achieve at the ballot box. That won't help them." Jabarin called on Police Commissioner Danny Levy to take action against those involved and to make it clear that the police are not acting in the service of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. "No one has immunity because of their proximity to the minister," he added.
It should be noted that on Wednesday, right-wing government supporters acted violently against citizens who supported the opposition in seven locations. At the "Yashar!" conference, well-known Otzma Yehudit activists crowded into the audience and created a commotion, until the police removed them. In Haifa, there were two incidents of harassment and violence against citizens who waved flags and called for a state investigation committee. On bridges in Bar Ilan, Ra'anana, and Netanya, youths vandalized signs of the "Behad" party. Likewise, at the Democrats conference in Nahariya, Otzma Yehudit and Likud activists played deafening music and threw stones outside the venue at the participants. In all cases, none of the rioters were arrested.
