Hadash member of parliament attacked by police

During the raid, MK Cassif was attacked after a policeman threatened that if all participants in the ceremony did not evacuate "within five minutes," Border Police forces would forcibly evacuate them.

According to Zo Khadarek, MK Kassif said: "A quiet and respectful event in Umm al-Khair in memory of Odeh al-Dha'alin, a peace activist who was murdered a year ago by a settler who continues to roam free and armed, was disrupted by dozens of Border Police officers. They declared the place a closed military area, and during the memorial event they even violently attacked me." He said, "After they closed the case of the attack against me in Sheikh Jarrah, despite clear documentation and after the police coordinated testimony, it is hard to believe that this time they will do justice - even though this attack was also documented."

Cassif further emphasized: "But I am not the main thing. The main thing is the reality of the brutal occupation, the ethnic cleansing and murder that the Palestinians go through every day. Settlers carry out pogroms, while the occupation forces enable this, protect them and sometimes even take an active part in them. This is a reality that requires a stubborn struggle for justice and peace. This is the truth, and the world must know what is happening beyond the mountains of darkness."

Later, in the evening, hundreds of people demonstrated in Habima Square in Tel Aviv against settler terrorism, in a protest organized by a number of organizations, including the Peace Partnership, Looking the Occupation in the Eye and Standing Together.

During the demonstration, the police confiscated the organizers' sound equipment, declared it illegal, and acted to disperse it violently, pushing the demonstrators into the square.
