Iraqi Communist Party condemns targeting of Kurdistan Region

The Iraqi Communist Party is following with grave concern the continued drone and missile attacks targeting cities and sites in the Kurdistan Region, which have resulted in numerous casualties over the past months, in addition to causing material damage and posing a persistent threat to the security of citizens and the stability of the country. 

The recurrence of these attacks, regardless of who is behind them or the pretexts used to justify them, is unacceptable and condemned. Iraqi territory must not become an arena for settling regional and international scores, nor should any part of Iraq be used as a launching pad for military operations targeting another province or the Kurdistan Region.

We emphasize that the position regarding the foreign military presence and its resolution must be subject to the will of the Iraqi state and its constitutional institutions, and its sovereign decision, in accordance with supreme national interests, and far removed from unilateral actions that expose Iraqis to the dangers of conflicts they did not choose.

The continued launching of drones places the federal government and its security apparatus under a constitutional and national responsibility that cannot be ignored. It is the state's duty to uncover those responsible for these attacks, prosecute them according to the law, and prevent the use of Iraqi territory for military operations outside the authority and decision-making of the state.

We reiterate our party's position calling for the state to have a monopoly on the use of force, ensuring that the decision of war and peace rests solely with constitutional institutions, and ending all forms of unconstitutional armed action.

The security of the Kurdistan Region is an integral part of Iraq's security, and any attack on its security is an attack on the country, its sovereignty, and its territorial integrity. 

Protecting national sovereignty requires a unified stance against all violations, regardless of their source or perpetrator.
