The XII. Congress of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), which took place on May 30 and 31, 2026 in Prague, came up with twelve specific points for the future of the republic: fair wages, affordable housing, strong public services, responsible state management and the end of the execution business. The Party rejects a policy that transfers risks to people and leaves profits to a narrow group and states, "We promote a peaceful and sovereign foreign policy. Our ambition is change: to give people back the certainty that work has meaning and the future is not a threat. However, an essential prerequisite for fulfilling these priorities is electoral success. It is time to act."
KSČM announces priorities for future of Czechia
1. Living wages
- Wage growth in line with the cost of living
- Minimum wage at least 60% of the average wage
- Strengthening employee rights, including participation in company results (e.g. in the form of employee shares)
2. Affordable housing and the end of speculation
- Support for the construction of municipal and cooperative housing
- Taxation of speculatively unused apartments and expropriation of dilapidated buildings
- Mandatory housing contributions to municipalities from developers
3. Solidarity-based public healthcare
- One health insurance company
- Backbone network of non-profit hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and emergency rooms
- Quality healthcare covered by public health insurance available to all citizens
4. Fair taxes and an end to profiteering
- Stopping the sale of publicly owned property
- Tough action against profit leakage abroad
- Progressive corporate taxation, higher taxation especially of retail chains, banks and internet giants, luxury tax
5. Quality, accessible and free education
- Cancellation of fees for kindergartens, after-school care centers and school clubs
- Support for science and research
- The end of the role of political non-profit organizations in education
6. Responsible public administration
- Introducing criminal liability for politicians and officials for damage caused by intentional illegal or unprofessional decisions
- Ensuring the objectivity and balance of public service media
- Separation of churches from the state and return of property from so-called "church restitutions" to public administration
7. Protection of civil rights and a safe environment for all
- Protecting freedom of speech without censorship and suppression of critical opinions
- Preservation of political rights, including the right to protest and equal access to public debate
- Ensuring the safety of citizens while respecting their freedoms
- Transparent exercise of state power and limitation of its abuse
8. Sovereign and democratic country
- Promoting peaceful and diplomatic conflict resolution
- Introduction of a general referendum including decisions on membership in international organizations
- Prohibition of the long-term presence of foreign military units on the territory of the Czech Republic and withdrawal from the NATO pact
- Preservation of the Czech crown and the right to cash payments
9. Strategic services back to the people
- Return energy, water utilities, minerals and basic public infrastructure back into the hands of the state, increase state ownership in strategic enterprises
- Direct state control over the prices of energy, water and other key services available to citizens
- Restoring the Czech Republic's self-sufficiency in food in our geographical area with priority given to the protection of arable land
10. Shorter work, dignified old age
- Gradual reduction of working hours, provided that the current wage level is maintained
- Lowering the retirement age
- Average pensions of at least 50% of the average wage
- Support for the construction of homes for the elderly
11. Transport as a public service
- End of service cancellations and return of accessible transport to the regions
- Free public transport for all
- Development of rail transport including new (high-speed) lines and connections
12. The end of the enforcement business
- Abolition of private executors
- Introduction of a single state bailiff and fair, transparent proceedings
