Otto Bruckner becomes new Chairman of PdA

After the sudden and unexpected passing of Party Chairman Tibor Zenker, the Executive Committee of the Labor Party of Austria (PdA) met to address the situation.

Otto Bruckner, who had until then served as Deputy Party Chairman, was chosen to assume the Party Chairman position. Bruckner had already served as Party Chairman from 2013 until 2019. Bruckner said at the party executive committee meeting that he could never have imagined becoming “the successor to his successor,” but that in this difficult hour for the party, he sees it as his duty to take on responsibility and, together with the party executive committee, to continue leading the party in Tibor’s spirit. In a first joint statement, the chairman and the three vice-chairpersons emphasized: “Under Tibor Zenker’s leadership in recent years, our party has become politically and ideologically united and strengthened. Organizationally, we have stable structures in five federal states. We want to lead the party toward a more successful and better future through collective and solidarity-based work with all its members and friends, just as Tibor would have wished.” At the same time, the Central Committee elected three deputy chairpersons,
