The Party of Labour of Austria, together with the Aurora Association and the Youth Front, will open two further political centers during October 2026.
Party of Labour of Austria (PdA) expands political centres
In addition to the central Jura Soyfer Political Center in Vienna, the Hanna Sturm Political Center will open in Eisenstadt on October 10th, and the Otto Pensl Political Center will open in Linz a week later, on October 17th.
With the opening of the Hanna Sturm Political Center in the heart of Burgenland's capital city, a new space for exchange, political education, culture, and collaborative action is opening its doors.
The Political Center is named after Johanna “Hanna” Sturm, who was born in Klingenbach. Her eventful life, marked by struggle and involvement in the Burgenland and Austrian labor movement, was the deciding factor.
With the opening of the Otto Pensl Political Center on Gruberstrasse, a new space for encounters, education, culture, and political discussion is taking place.
The center is named after Otto Pensl, who was born in Linz in 1895. After attending school in Linz, he became a mechanic and later worked in Steyr. Pensl was a successful working-class athlete and Austrian marathon champion. After 1934, he joined the illegal communist movement and was later active in the resistance against Nazi fascism. Because of his political activities, he was persecuted and imprisoned several times. In 1944, he was deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he was murdered on April 28, 1945, just days before the camp's liberation.
