The Revolutionary Communist Party of France rejects capitalist profits in healthcare and supports the demands of the Elsan medical staff.
PCRF: Healthcare is not a cost but a right!
In France, workers at the clinics and establishments of the private healthcare group Elsan mobilized in late April to defend their rights. By May, the personnel of most clinics declared an unlimited strike until their demands for wage increases and better recognition of their professions were met.
The Workers and Enterprises Commission of the Revolutionary Communist Party of France (PCRF) announced its support for the medical staff of the Elsan monopoly. Refusing to consider healthcare as a source of financial gain for capital, the party simply reminded, “Healthcare is not a cost but a right!” The PCRF criticized Elsan's executives, who supposedly see increasing salaries, wages and the number of nurses and healthcare workers as “a direct attack on their lucrative profits.”
The party has an ongoing campaign “Accusons le capitalisme” (Let's accuse capitalism) for free, quality, accessible healthcare. This political campaign aims to relate daily revindications of the working class to the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and the building of socialism-communism.
