International statement on Egyptian military attack on Sudanese miners

Solidarity with Sudanese People and Condemnation of Egyptian Military Incursions

Communist and Workers’ Parties issued a joint statement regarding the Egyptian army's attack on Sudanese miners.

The Communist and Workers’ Parties signing this statement condemn the attack on Sudanese miners on 17 and 18 June 2026 and express their solidarity with their families. They hold the Egyptian state fully responsible for this aggression and for the violation of Sudan’s sovereignty. They also hold the de facto authorities in Port Sudan responsible for failing to protect citizens and safeguard national resources.

The parties condemn the military incursion and aggression against civilians, and reject investment arrangements that undermine Sudan’s sovereignty. At the same time, they reaffirm the deep historical ties between the Sudanese and Egyptian peoples, stressing that their shared interests lie in relations based on mutual respect, free from domination and interference.

The parties call for an urgent and independent international investigation and accountability for those responsible. They further demand the immediate withdrawal of Egyptian forces from Sudanese territory, the lifting of the siege on the miners and the provision of safe passage for their evacuation, compensation for the families of those killed and injured, and a review of mining and investment agreements to safeguard Sudan’s sovereignty.

The parties signing this statement affirm that the de facto authorities and the forces of parasitic capitalism bear responsibility for compromising Sudan’s sovereignty and wealth, thereby opening the door to imperialist plunder. It calls for a united national and international stance to defend the country’s independence and the rights of its people.
