The leadership, members, and friends of the Syrian Communist Party (Unified) mourn with profound sorrow the passing of the great national fighter and President of the Unified Syrian Communist Party, Comrade Hanin Nimr, who passed away this morning, Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The late comrade was a dedicated national leader and communist who struggled throughout his life for the freedom of the homeland and the dignity of the people. He played a prominent role in strengthening national unity and comprehensive national dialogue, and in working for a unified Syria, both in land and people. He never wavered in his defense of the Syrian working class and the poor, and was the voice of the voiceless in the People's Assembly. He fought tirelessly to support the Arab national liberation movement against the Zionist threat, and to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to return, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent state on Palestinian soil.
