On the 17th May, a discussion was organised on the 54th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh. The main speaker was the Acting General Secretary of the Party, Nur Ahmed Bakul.

In his speech he emphasised the following:
"The struggle against imperialism-religious fascism must be considered as the main duty of the people of this country at this moment. Since the post-independence period, US imperialism has repeatedly changed regimes in this country with the aim of achieving political-economic-cultural dominance. The military rule of this country is the result of the politics of murder, communalism, religious melodrama and its dependence. The declaration of the liberation war of Bangladesh and the constitution of '72 on which it is based could not match the aspirations of the people's interests for the rule of the party of the looting ruling class. The rise of religious fascism in this subcontinent is a new danger. In order to save the country, the left-wing progressive, democratic-minded people of this country must strengthen their fight against imperialism-religious fascism; the working people must be organized. We must work on nation-building based on the liberation war and the royal legacy of our independence. A non-communal, just and equal state system The Workers' Party of Bangladesh has continued that struggle to this day."
He also said, "Rashed Khan Menon, one of the founding members of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh, has been detained in a false murder case, which is completely illegal. From the Pakistan period until the day he was arrested, he was a successful leader in all the struggles against imperialism, corruption and tyranny in this country. His contribution to the liberation war is undeniable. The heroic freedom fighter Comrade Rashed Khan Menon must be released immediately. The false cases against central leaders including public leaders Comrade Fazle Hossain Badsha, Comrade Mustafa Lutfullah must be withdrawn."
