Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) reiterates solidarity with their people
Here is the full statement of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV):
On behalf of our members, we extend our solidarity to those who today face the loss of loved ones, the destruction of their homes, and uncertainty about their future. We share in the national mourning and reiterate our commitment to stand with the people in these difficult circumstances.
We also express our gratitude for the numerous expressions of solidarity received from communist and workers' parties in various countries, as well as from popular organizations and revolutionary movements around the world, which have expressed their support for the Venezuelan people in the face of this tragedy.
This catastrophe occurs within a particularly complex context for Venezuela, marked by a profound economic, political, and social crisis that has deteriorated the living conditions of the working population for years. Millions of families were already facing extreme hardship before this disaster, which has now multiplied the human and social impact of the emergency.
The enormous limitations of the public health system, affected by a lack of supplies, the deterioration of hospital infrastructure, the mass migration of professionals, and the scarcity of basic resources, hinder its capacity to respond to an emergency of this magnitude. Likewise, the weakening of public institutions reduces the possibilities of effectively addressing the immediate needs and the recovery process that the affected communities will require.
Furthermore, we warn of the United States' intentions to use our country's tragedy to escalate its domination with a military presence on Venezuelan territory under the guise of humanitarian aid.
Faced with this situation, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) has decided to dedicate all its modest efforts to serving the people. We are pleased to announce the establishment of a permanent collection centre in the lobby of the Cantaclaro Theatre in Caracas. This centre will receive non-perishable food, drinking water, medicine, hygiene products, clothing, blankets, and other supplies that can help alleviate the most urgent needs of the affected families.
Likewise, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) is promoting an international solidarity campaign with Venezuelan working families, in coordination with communist and workers' parties in various countries. The aim is to strengthen the internationalist solidarity that has historically united peoples in their most difficult times.
We call upon the working class, the peasantry, youth, women, popular, labour, and community organizations, as well as the entire Venezuelan people, to strengthen solidarity, organization, and popular unity to collectively confront this tragedy.
Only solidarity among peoples, popular organization, and collective action allows us to withstand this new onslaught and move forward in the reconstruction of the affected communities, always placing at the centre the defence of the life and dignity of the Venezuelan working people.
Solidarity with the affected families!
Unity and popular organization to confront the emergency!
