Koç Holding is the oldest and one of the most powerful monopolies in Turkey. It "celebrated" its centenary with an event in Ankara. Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) staged a protest in front of the building, where Koç Holding's 100th anniversary event took place.
Several thousand opponents of the Sudeten German congress gathered in central Brno on 23 May to protest against the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft Congress, the first-ever holding of the event in Czechia. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia was an active part of the rally and built a “Silent Barricade”, a symbolic barricade out of cardboard boxes.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of Cyprus on May 24. Leaving the 24 seats allocated to Turkish Cypriots empty, the voters elected 56 of the 80 members of the House of Representatives.
On May 16, a large demonstration was held in Helsingborg, Sweden ahead of NATO's informal summit on May 21-22.
