Communist Party of India (Marxist) office attacked

On Monday night at 22.30, BJP goons attacked the CPI(M) district office Subodh Sen Bhavan with sticks, weapons and kerosene. They broke the glass windows and flagpoles outside the party office and burned them with kerosene. 

According to Ganashakti, youth leader Debraj Barman rescued the hosting flag in a half-burnt state. Then, the goons tried to enter by throwing bricks and stones at Debraj Barman and the student youth leaders and party workers who were in front of the gate. Party workers put up resistance. 

CPI(M) state secretary Mohammad Salim condemned the thief-like attack in the dark of night. 

A huge protest march was held in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, the following day against the ABVP-BJP attack on the CPI(M) District Committee office.

Even after a long riot on Monday night, the police were not seen. Debraj Barman, Sohini Roy, Prabhakar Sarkar, Diya Saha, Purna Dutta Bhowmik, Pancham Ghosh were attacked.

After some time, the police came and played the role of silent spectators. Later the BJP goons gathered again in front of the police and came to attack the district office. The police force came in front of the office and asked the leaders and workers including CPI(M) District Secretary Piyush Mishra, State Committee Member Salil Acharya to go home and said that they would protect the party office. The Party militants did not trust the police. 

CPI(M) District Secretary Piyush Mishra said, "BJP wants to destroy the democratic environment. Since many people are joining CPI(M) against BJP, this attack on the district party office. Democracy-loving people will not accept this attack. The CPI(M) could not be stopped by attacking, burning the flag and breaking the party office."

Incident at Yogeshganj

A meeting called by CPI(M) was disrupted on Monday with sticks. The situation then became complicated when the party workers and supporters who were present in the crowded community hall came out. Understanding the situation, the BJP goons were forced to leave. The meeting resumed. 

Party leader Niraap Sardar returned to his speech and said, "On September 1, when we tried to disrupt a procession in Panchapalli, Yogeshganj to celebrate Anti-Imperialism Day, the BJP was forced to retreat on that day too, facing resistance. So our job is that there will be no booth where the red flag will not fly. If the booth is strong, I will get my freedom of expression back by preventing the Trinamool from taking away the rights of the people, which the BJP is now trying to take away in the same way. We will have to talk about the role of the leftists in the freedom movement in the neighborhood meetings. Those who are trying to take away freedom anew today should also highlight that they had no role against the British Raj. 

On this day, a discussion meeting titled "History of Manush in the Court of Manush" was organized at the community hall adjacent to Yogeshganj Bazar by the initiative of CPI (M) Hingalganj South Area Committee. Dr. Fuad Halim and party leader Sardar participated in the discussion. Area Committee Secretary Ravi Biswas presided over the meeting. Presenting important chapters in the long history of the Great Revolt of 1857 and the subsequent freedom movement in a simple and fluent manner, Dr. Fuad Halim said that secularism has a long history in the Sepoy Rebellion. "Where the role of the common man is undeniable. What are we seeing today? The Prime Minister of the country is advertising in newspapers on behalf of the state Information and Culture Department with the picture of the Chief Minister of the state where the eleven hands of Durga are shown.
