A joint state-level mass convention was organised by the INDIA Bloc, Odisha, at Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, demanding protection of the State’s rights over its mineral resources, the land, forest and livelihood rights of Adivasis, and the larger public interest.

All constituent parties of the INDIA Bloc, including the CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML)-Liberation, Forward Bloc, Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party and RJD, participated in the joint programme.
CPI(M) State Secretary Suresh Panigrahy, State Secretariat member Pushpa Das, and senior leader Ali Kishore Patnaik were among those who addressed the gathering. The leaders declared that Odisha’s mineral wealth belongs to its people, not to corporate interests, and called for the repeal of the MMDR (Amendment) Act, 2026. They announced a statewide campaign and an Assembly gherao on September 29 against the Modi Government’s “blueprint for mining loot.”
