CPI(M) office attacked by BJP thugs

The Local Committee office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Jogendranagar, on the outskirts of Agartala, Tripura was attacked and vandalised on the evening of August 24 by 30–40 BJP goons who arrived under the pretext of a procession as part of a programme organised by their party. 

The Local Committee members, headed by former SFI State President Adv. Neelanjana Roy, had to take evasive action. Attacks on CPI(M) offices and events in the area by BJP goons have increased in the recent period. A blood donation camp in the same locality, organised on Independence Day at the house of DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb, was halted under the threat of BJP thugs. In Kalamchoura, Sepahijala district, on the same day, CPI(M) supporters were physically attacked and prevented from hoisting the national flag.

Hundreds of people marched to the Police Headquarters in Agartala, Tripura, on Tuesday, demanding action against BJP goons who attacked and vandalised the CPI(M) party office in Jogendranagar.

CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby, along with Polit Bureau member and Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury and other senior party leaders, visited the party Local Committee office in Jogendranagar. “BJP’s Last Days Are Being Counted; Left Will Emerge as a Powerful Force” CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby addressed the media upon his arrival in Agartala, Tripura.
