President of the National Defence Council Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez participated on Friday, Defence Day, in activities held at the Cubanacán Zone Defence Council in the Playa municipality.

Four new decree laws were approved by the Council of State of Cuba, in its ordinary session, headed by the president of this body, Esteban Lazo Hernández, and with the participation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

The closing activities of 100th anniversary celebrations of Fidel Castro’s birth on 13 August 2026, were held at Havana’s Karl Marx Theatre.

The First International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future,” being held in Havana as part of the centenary commemorations of Fidel Castro is an event, which is primarily an international political and ideological gathering focused not only on Fidel’s historical legacy but on the continued relevance of his ideas to contemporary struggles over sovereignty, imperialism, socialism, international solidarity and social development.

The First International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future” begins this Monday at Havana’s Convention Center, as part of the program of activities marking the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Revolution.

With the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the inauguration of the IV Continental Assembly of the ALBA Movements: For Socialism 100 Years Walking with Fidel took place at the Varona Convention Center of the University of Havana, which will be held until August 8 in the Cuban capital.
