While a de facto state of emergency continues in the capital city of Turkey due to the upcoming NATO summit, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) marched to Kızılay Square, centre of Ankara, with the slogan “Down with imperialism, down with NATO!”

Elections in Cyprus will be held on the 24th of May. A right-wing alliance is formed by centre-right DISY and DIKO with fascist ELAM. AKEL Parliamentary Spokesperson, Giorgos Loukaidis, issued a statement about this alliance, calling it a serious danger for democracy and the country.
The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia issued a statement about the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft Congress, to be held in the Czech Republic. It will take place in Brno from May 22 to 25, 2026. The Sudeten German Landsmannschaft was established after World War II on the initiative of a group of former supporters of fascist Sudeten politician Konrad Henlein and former Nazi party officials and has questioned the results of the defeat of German Nazism and the post-war order. The Sudeten crisis of 1938 was provoked by the demands of Nazi Germany, that the Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia, be annexed to them, which happened after the later Munich Agreement.
The Irish revolutionary socialist leader James Connoly was commemorated by the Communist Party of Ireland at the 110th anniversary of his death. He was executed for his leading role in the 1916 Easter Uprising against British rule in Ireland. The commemoration took place at the Arbour Hill military cemetery, where his body was placed, without rite or coffin, with 13 of his comrades in a common grave. He remains an important figure for the Irish labour and socialist movement.
The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) has issued a series of statements and interventions over the course of this week, condemning what it describes as a systematic pattern of right-wing attacks on public services, national sovereignty, and the wellbeing of working people and municipalities across Portugal.
The Political Office of the Communist Front and the National Secretariat of the Communist Youth Front (FGC) condemned in a joint statement the planned mass layoffs of 1.700 workers by the multinational Electrolux, as well as the planned closure of several facilities, including the one of Cerreto d’Esi, in the province of Ancona.
